(Course Outline shown below.)For Whom Intended This course is intended for individuals who need a brief, practical introduction to the principles of mechanical engineering drawing and computer-aided drafting. Brief Course Description Course 533 first presents the basics of drafting, starting with terminology, sketching, hand lettering and line types. After a discussion of multi-view drawing, students will work on an introductory sketching exercise. The instructor then covers auxiliary and sectional views, as well as principles of measurement, scale and dimensioning. This is following by another sketching session to put these principles to use. In another lecture session, the instructor discusses the history of Computer Aided drafting, and introduces the free SketchUp program. Students will be familiarized with SketchUp's user interface and tools before beginning work on practical exercises using SketchUp in the TTi computer lab. Exercises are completed throughout the course to reinforce fundamental principles from which the student will build. Practical drawing applications are used to help student understanding. Students will participate and be engaged in practical exercises to demonstrate their understanding of the material covered. Participants successfully completing this course will be able to use SketchUp to create and modify precise mechanical engineering drawings. Diploma Programs This course may be used as an optional course for TTi’s Metrology/Calibration Specialist (MCS) Diploma Program, or for any other TTi specialist diploma program. Related Courses Students may also be interested in TTi's Course 535, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Prerequisites There are no definite prerequisites for this course. However, this course is aimed toward individuals involved in a related technical field. Course Hours, Certificate and CEUs Open courses meet seven hours per day. Upcoming presentation dates can be found on our current open course schedule. Class hours/days for on-site courses can vary from 14-35 hours over 2-5 days as requested by our clients.
