Lawrence J. Kozlowski has over 30 years experience in the field of electrical safety and power distribution, and is an expert on the National Electrical Code (NEC). He is a Certified Professional Engineer in the state of Pennsylvania.
As a senior engineer at Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, West Mifflin, PA, Mr. Kozlowski is responsible for writing specifications for equipment, laboratory relocations, building construction, test loop modifications, upgrades of existing equipment and installation of automation equipment. He is also working to troubleshoot the control system on the Bettis power distribution system to correct problems and has two active subcontracted projects for improving the Bettis power distribution system: one to replace all the communication/protective devices for the system and the other to perform an arc flash and short circuit study. Earlier projects for Bettis include development of standard procedures for electrical safety, writing high-risk permits and procedures for performing electrical energized work, training of junior engineers and technicians, developing and training personnel in Lock Out Tag Out practices, and updating the laboratory's Electrical Safety Manual.
Prior to becoming an engineer, Mr. Kozlowski worked for many years as an electrician, and his safety focus comes as a result of that practical experience. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburge in 1982.
