Question Why attend a TTi 3 day course when there are evening courses available at local colleges?
Answer A three day twenty one hour course provides a total immersion in the subject matter that one does not obtain in a semester long course presentation at a local college.
TTi instructors have actual hands on industrial experience and the subject matter is presented from a practical application mode, with some basic theory as appropriate.
College courses, on the other hand, are generally presented from a theoretical point of view, by professors who generally have little recent industrial experience.
Students attending the semester-long courses may lose interest or miss classes during the term.
TTi classes are highly interactive. It's not the usual “throw the material at the students and hope some of it sticks” approach. TTi instructors take time to assist individual students with specific problems as may be necessary for them to understand the material.
TTi courses are generally developed because the subject matter is not available at local colleges. A great effort is made to select the course content that is appropriate for the subject matter and to meet the time restraints. TTi courses are continually being reviewed and revised from input received from participants.
Sending an employee to a TTi class shows in a positive way that the organization and you the manager, care enough that you are willing to allow the individual the opportunity to improve or acquire new skills.
The return on this investment should be a more satisfied employee, better equipped to help produce an improved quality product.
Question Why use outside “experts” to teach our employees, while we have in-house experts available?
Answer Being a good instructor requires more than just understanding the technical material. It requires the ability to present the material in a way that the participants can follow and understand. For example, some individuals with Ph.D. degrees and first-class experience and technical ability are not necessarily good instructors.
It takes an good deal of time to put together the information and develop the course workbook.
It removes a valuable in-house expert from other vital work.
An outside instructor can bring give attendees a new perspective on the subject matter.
Question Why proceed with a multi year-training program? Won't one or two courses every now and then be sufficient?
Answers TTi has developed its multi-year continuing education program in order to provide the participants with a structured program of continuing education in specific application oriented subjects.
It has been seen over the past number of years that a sequence of classes leading to a certificate provides the incentive for individuals to continue to make the effort, to obtain technical expertise and learn practical methodologies related to their everyday work activities.
It can be time-consuming for managers to evaluate various course offerings that employees request permission to attend.
Question Is the individual going to class just to “goof off”?
Answer Not in the vast majority of cases. Participating in a TTi class requires a great amount of effort on the part of the attendees. They are not used to sitting for three days at a stretch, having to really concentrate and absorb highly technical material. They also have to be prepared to participate in technical interaction on the subject matter. Management should exercise caution in selecting candidates for training. Some of the criteria that could be applied are work effort/aTTitude and enthusiasm for new challenges. When the right candidates attend TTi, they will return to the workplace refreshed and ready to put their new knowledge to work.
Question What can I tell my management about the advantages of training in Las Vegas?
Answer TTi is always trying to provide reasonably priced training to our customers’ employees. In addition to the cost of training, our customers incur travel and lodging expenses. We feel that Las Vegas provides exceptional value for your company’s travel dollar. Airline connections to Las Vegas are excellent from most parts of the States and Canada, with convenient schedules to meet most people’s needs at reasonable prices. TTi has located its training facility close to several non-gaming hotels. Las Vegas McCarran International airport is only a short taxi ride from the TTi training facility, making a rental car unnecessary. Flights in and out of Las Vegas are unlikely to be delayed on account of Las Vegas related weather problems because of its favorable climate, even in winter months.
Answer Before you do anything else, please contact TTi for availability. Some courses fill early, others may be rescheduled due to low enrollments. After confirming that space is available, please complete our On-line registration form.
Question What forms of payment do you accept?
Answer We accept major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover), company purchase orders, US Dept. of Defense form SF182, company or personal checks, and even cash. For international payments, we can provide wire transfer information.
Question Where should I stay in Las Vegas?
Answer We don't endorse any specific hotel, as we're unable to verify that the accommodations are acceptable. We do provide information about some non-gaming hotels near our Las Vegas training center, on our Las Vegas Fact sheet. See page 3 for hotel information. If you prefer to stay at a casino hotel, our fact sheet also shows which ones are closest to the training center. Some of the best lodging values in the world can be found at Las Vegas casino hotels. For the most up-to-date information on lodging specials, we recommend you visit www.lasvegas.com.
Question By what date do I need to pay for my course?
Answer We prefer pre-payment at your earliest convenience. For courses with high enrollments, prepayment will be required to hold a seat. If your payment has not been received, we will contact you for payment before giving your seat to someone else. We can offer more flexibility if enrollments are not too high. If your organization requires some lead time for approvals and paperwork, you may be permitted to attend the course if you can email copies of all approvals and preliminary purchasing documents to us prior to the first day of class. If you are paying by credit card but need us to process the payment before or after a specific date (due to fiscal period issues), we can usually comply with your requests.
Question Can I leave early on the last day?
Answer We cover a semester’s worth of material in our classes. Please make every effort not to cut short your attendance on the last day. To receive your certificate, make your travel reservations based on leaving class no earlier than 4:00 pm on the final day of your course. Your flight should depart from Las Vegas no earlier than 5:30 pm on the final day.
