Colin P. Ratcliffe has over 25 years experience in the field of mechanical structural analysis. This includes experimental and theoretical work in such topic areas as the characterization of vibroacoustic materials, vibration methods for damage detection, and finite element modeling of linear and non-linear systems. He is internationally known for his work in modal analysis, damage detection, and the characterization of composite materials. He has two patents and nearly 100 published papers and reports in national and international journals.
Dr. Ratcliffe is a Professor at the United States Naval Academy, where he teaches courses in the Mechanical Engineering Department. He is a Professional Engineer, registered in London, England, and is also an engineering consultant to industry and the U.S. Government. Dr. Ratcliffe received his BA and MA degrees from Cambridge University, and his PhD (dissertation on Dynamic Structural Modeling for Time Domain Analysis) from the University of Southampton, England.
