At any given time, there are numerous individuals working towards earning their TTi Specialist Certificates. One who finalized his program and qualified in 2006 is
Domingos has worked for 20 years at the Centro Tecnico Aeroespacial, Instituto de Aeronautical e Espaço, Brazil. He has been working on the required TTi courses since June, 2001. During the past five years he has traveled to seven “open” TTi courses, the latest in October 2006.
Domingos’s thesis was an excellent description of his work on a dynamic test project in which he was personally involved to qualify the First Stage Booster Adapter for the VSB-30 Sounding Rocket’s first flight.
As Domingos told Colin during his recent visit, “The experience of attending TTi courses has helped me in many ways to understand not only the principles of vibration technology but the best way of running tests and understanding test procedures and specifications. The opportunity to have TTi instructors explain the various topics from their practical experience viewpoint, having questions answered and the interchange of ideas between classmates was so good. It gave me information I could not obtain elsewhere.”
Dr. Edilson Alexandre Camargo, Head of the Test Engineering Group at CTA/IAE and Domingos’s supervisor, writes, “Mr. Strafacci has worked at this Institute in the Test Engineering group for twenty years. During this period he obtained practical experience in measurements, maintenance, handling and the operational systems applied to dynamics tests. Our department is responsible for all of dynamics test of space and aeronautics systems, including acoustics, modal analysis and vibration tests. Mr. Strafacci is in charge of all vibration equipment in the department and has been responsible for the test configurations and management.”
Domingos hopes to return to TTi to work towards the Environmental Engineering Specialist Certificate. There are strong possibilities of sending three more dynamic test technicians to attend the seven courses of the dynamic test specialist program over the next several years.
